I love the flow of this. It really is beautiful and much better then the stock photo. I just love how it seems to be from a dream or if it was in the mist.

just a quick question, do you paint from light to dark or dark to light or did you blend the colours? ...does this make sense?

In this one I started out light, but only cos I wanted this to be a fairly light painting. There was a fair amount of "blending", but umm.. I wouldn't actually call it blending. More like working the edges into each other. Uhh... pulling the colours together, if THAT makes any sense
Umm.. added thought process behind it, if it helps: I pictured the woman to be hollow, the white as like a void of space.. I was just painting her skin, instead of HER. Then I just fiddled with the edges to gel it together.
But yeah, I don't usually stick to any method - whatever you think is gonna work best for the painting. Recently I have been starting with neutral midtones and then shape those blocks with lights and darks. I think of it like sculpting. Adding cooler, darker colours is like chiselling away at the middle tone(which is your block of marble/wood or whatever), and lighter, warmer colours as sticking bits on to bring it closer.
..If that helps in any way whatsoever

And I know "pulling the edges together" is technically blending, but if you think of it as blending you tend to over blend it, and it loses its "zing".. at least I do. Thinking of it like that gives me a vague reference of intentions.. so I don't keep going and going and going.
Still not sure if I answered your question, I tend to ramble on about things and go completely off the point. Just let me know lol
