Description
So this will be part of a bigger drawing, but it will probably take a while before I finish the whole thing, and I think it looks decent enough as it is.It's a pretty ambitious drawing (the whole thing, not just this part), fortunately I decided to do it in black and white, which I find relaxing in a way that colours are not (it's the difference of going from 3 dimensions to just 1). So I can concentrate on the movement, which hopefully I got right.
What do you think?

I can't believe it's been nearly a year since this was submitted! It still feels like only a few weeks or months at most since it did.
Anyway, I feel you do a great job conveying her personality here. I've always seen her (and may have mentioned this elsewhere) as a woman who's confident in her appearance, and the sway of her hips really helps convey that. I also like how her hair is blowing backwards and the way the dress is moving around her leg.

Yes, it doesn't feel like it has been that long I think the fact that I don't get to submit drawings of her as often and the variations of the same drawing are spread weeks apart (with the commissions in between, of course I'm not complaining
) makes it that we loose track of how much time has passed.
For this one I was helped by the numerous references I could use. Most of the time I can't get the specific look that I want so I have to adapt or invent. But with all the models strutting in the runway there is an infinity of references for this specific pose with millions of cloths and hairdos and most of the time they have that confident look that I wanted to convey.

Time is flying past too quickly!
If anything, i think it's good you don't submit Ariel pieces as often, as it means the ones that get submitted stand out more .
Looking at it again, I can see the influence a strutting model would have on it. I'll admit I never picked up on it the first time, so I think you made great use of the reference.

That is does.
It also helps that often I have to put the drawings of Ariel to the side unfinished while I do a commission. So when I return I see it with new eyes and I can correct the errors I made. I also get more experimental on my own drawings, trying new things. Of course an experiment can be successful or be a total failure. If it's successful I will show it, but if it's a failure there are chances I will not even bother to upload it. On commissions I tend to go with proven methods because I don't think people will appreciate a failed experiment "I tried something different on your commission but it didn't work out, so I will not show it to you... sorry"
It is a luxury I could get on this drawing. On an normal drawing for example I could find references for the pose, or something close, but it will probably not have the same cloths (and it general it's better they don't have any cloths at all, so I can see the anatomy). Here I could find models doing almost the exact same strut in lingerie so I can see the anatomy, and also walking with a similar skirt so I could see the movement of it. And it happens that models have very similar bodies so the match is almost perfect.

Thank you, those are the elements I aimed to get right. The folds had me worried when I was half-way through, but I'm glad in the end it came out right
