Description
I used the description of Melancholy provided as a guide. It was considered a mental disease, suffering and despair. I decided to portray that side of it. In this piece I'm also using the veiled woman as representing any woman. That they are a group is to show and symbolize shared pain. Also at the turn of the last century women often were institutionalized for bouts of despair, depression and ...Melancholy. This is also a not to subtle homage to see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.

Also this fits in with the Halloween spirit I'm currently under.
