This is so richly textured and layered, the darknesses as interesting as the lighted places right down to the dark, almost pained expression on the model's face. The "pen and ink" quality of the "wings" adds to the depth of the piece, making me search for shapes within the shapes and re-define my concept of wings and going beyond "cloud cuckoo-land" appendages of flight to other, more symbolic meanings for flight, flying, the will to fly or the need to fly away. Very engaging.
