I could have guessed you might want to talk - not much else to do in these cells except wait for mealtimes and courtyard privileges. I've been here about a year, give or take. I stopped counting after the first couple of months. My last cellmate was pretty quiet, though that didn't keep them from the ire of one of the bigger inmates who... wanted them. Those big hands sadly choked her to death out in the courtyard. Why didn't the guards do anything, you ask? The guards are kind of a joke and will only react if someone is making a foolish attempt to get over the walls - a pretty rare occurrence - or if an inmate is trying to get too handsy with them - a slightly more common occurrence. They'll come by every so often to "check" on us, but as everyone is in for life, they couldn't care less what we do so long as we're compliant. And I see you eyeing your own outfit - don't get used to it; there's no standardization of anything, as I heard the guards mention this place just gets the extras from other facilities, so we'll both likely have different outfits tomorrow. Just how things are around here, and I've stopped caring about details. just so long as I can live in peace without getting choked out.
