Description
The OR (Obeeys Railway) M class was designed by Richard O'Donnel in 1934 for the Obbeeysian military. These 0-8-2Ts were built for heavy shunting and short to medium range goodstrains. They were inspired by the Southern Railway Z class, but they added a saddletank and extended the bunker, requiring a trailing axle. The inside valve gear was also more standard. The first batch of three was built in 1934, with a second batch of fifteen being ordered in 1939, when tentions were rising in Europe. A further batch of ten was built in 1944/45 and shipped over to the Netherlands to help during the Dutch famine in the winter of 44/45, alongside aid in food rations for the German-occupied provinces north of the great rivers.- Update 29-3-2024 Added both sides.
