Luster Dawn's story began a little while after Chrysalis first met Starlight Glimmer and lost her hive. Chrysalis gave birth to Luster and ended up leaving the little grub behind. From then on Luster raised herself, changeling foals being much more intelligent and able to take care of themselves.

Unlike other changelings, Luster is unable to metamorphasize, leaving her a dark, love starving, changeling. She's very self conscious about this and takes the form of a regular unicorn mare as to not cause distress, the only pony who knows is Twilight Sparkle. Luster is quite shy and kept to herself, making friends always being a struggle for her. But despite her appearance and past she's a kind soul.
