Description

Here are some practice sketches I did this evening. I borrowed the poses from Sitara-LeotaStock

Usually when I'm a little stuck for inspiration, I find other images to help get the juices flowing. A warm up exercise if you will. I remember doing this in life drawing classes in college. Of course then we only had 1 minute to sketch the pose down. So you get fast real quick. Fortunately I had a little more time for these.Β

What I really dig most about her is that she looks like such a Tomboy, and not just in an "I'm a Saiyan so I look like a tomboy because I'm a warrior" or just because she's wearing pants kind of thing, but she just has this rugged edginess to her that is appealing. I think I've probably said it before, she's one of the few OC's I find pretty believable. I really think she is pretty suitable for Trunks' personality actually

I just absolutely love how you draw her. She is exactly how I picture most Saiyan females to be. Great job hun!

Those are really awesome, you got the sense of movement just right. Β I have a suggestion, though (if you mean to do some more exercises, that is). Β First let me tell you that I've been practicing Asian martial arts for about fourteen years now, so there are some details I can't help but notice. Β One of the things I liked more about Toriyama's work (and even of the anime adaptation), was how accurate and precise the fighting poses were, and how it was even possible to tell apart one style from another. Β

Well, I'm telling you this because the last sketch (in the bottom part of the page), even if it looks really nice, it looks like if she was stretching, not like a fighting pose. Β I'm not sure if you wanted to do that, but the way you positioned the arms makes me thing that you were going for the fighting pose. Β

The main difference between the pose you used as a reference and an actual martial arts pose, is that in Asian martial arts the "back foot" virtually always goes flat to the floor. Β Also, if the knee is directed a bit more to the front (from this perspective, I mean), would show better skills in martial arts (which I'm sure is Celari's case). Check out the picture labeled "the tiger" in this page: travel.cnn.com/hong-kong/play/… . Β

In the other hand, the sketch in the upper right has an almost perfect martial art pose.
