EDITED: I didn't like Ion's expression originally. It was too angry. Just like Celari, Ion is much more complex than he appears.

Volume IV Chapter V

    Celari recovered from a hit, and turned to retaliate. That’s when Ion sent his leg into the ball of her right shoulder.

    “Ga-HAAAHHHH!!!!” Celari cried out hearing a pop, then fell down on her back. Trunks watched in alarm.

    Toma winced, still holding the boy. “Enough, Ion!”

    Ion stood over Celari as she rolled onto her left side, moaning and whimpering from the pain all over her body. “Stand up, Celari.”

    Her teeth were tightly clenched and she struggled to open her eyes. Ion looked down on her asserting his authority. She held her breath and rolled to her stomach, then panted for a moment. She took a deep breath and used her left hand to push herself up as her right arm hung limp. She finally made it to her feet, but before she could straighten up Ion grabbed her by the back of her hair and pulled her up to him.

    Ion stared her in the face. Celari squinted at him and growled swinging her left arm at his head. He blocked it easily, grabbed onto her wrist and twisted it behind her back. She cried out loud.

    “Celari, relax,” Ion said firmly.

    Celari squeezed her eyes shut having been immobilized. Her legs felt like rubber. Ion eased his grip on her and held her delicately against him.

    “Celari, listen to me. I know why you ran away. You don’t have to be afraid of me.” She grunted as she hung from Ion’s hold. “I forgive you for leaving. I’ll make you strong again like you were before,” Ion’s words stabbed Celari in the heart as all of her pride and self-worth was ripped to shreds. She closed her eyes in defeat.

    Ion let go of her wrist, pulled the zipper down on her shirt and slid is hand onto the bare skin of her waist. He looked at her with sorrowful joy. “Please, trust me. I don’t want to lose you again. I’ll protect you… my love.”

    He laid his lips gently over hers. Celari’s eyes watered. She did nothing, or could do nothing, to resist.
