I read that Odin's not even supposed to be old. It's just his guise as the Wanderer. He's actually supposed to be a ruggedly, handsome man with thick black hair, with a few grey or white streaks in his hair.

Very nicely done, it's good to see a different take on this deity.

I see how you worked intricately to present a theme of "murky, salty water", not the "powerful stormy sea" you often see Poseidon as, but a daytime sea... more suitable to fishing, I guess.

I wanted to show him, as kind god, god of the summer sea. In a counterbalance to a severe Egir.

I like how under those shoes, you can imagine that he might have the beautiful feet that tricked Skadi! His outfit is really beautiful. Interesting interpretation!!

Very attractive. Exactly how I'd expect the king of the Vanir to look.

Pic is great but I cant help asking - If Njord is a Vana, shouldn't he be dark-haired?

His children were blonde, so why should it be brunette? And I have not seen mentions that the Vanir to be dark haired.

I think it was mentioned in Edda, that Aesir were fair and Vanir dark... And I'm not sure, whether Freyr or Freya were described as blond...

Blew me away, easily my favorite piece of art on the site. It is nice to see Njord depicted as something other than an old man for once. I love the expression on his face as well.

Æsir and Vanir call the eternally young, and therefore it would be strange to me to draw Njord - the old one.
i very glad that you liked it! = )
