Honestly, why would you use autism as an excuse? Why? It just makes you stupid and people like you are the reason why I can't take people seriously if they say they have autism, aspergers, paranoia, OCD, ADHD, you name it anymore.Stamplate by =1Foxylady

Even he wouldn't help him. He is a victim of shitty parenting. Not all people who have conditions are retarded or spoiled, my form master is aspie, he has a wife, kids and he is a respected teacher.

I'm glad I have parents who are strict enough to provide me with numerous requirements made specifically for autistics in order to come out prim and proper! If they work for me, they'll work for him!

You're really lucky then! Strict parents have advantages. Well, if you don't know who Chris Chan is, check out this: [link] . It's just... Well, his parents treated him like idiot and liked to spoil him, his father was trying to teach him some discipline, but his mother just wasn't a good parent.
I have a totally different type of condition, but still a condition, most of kids with asthma don't take part in PE lessons, but I did. My parents told me to. I couldn't run much, but at least I'm not as clumsy as many other asthmatics.

Ugh I KNOW. I hate when people do this.
Not to mention it fuels people who think we're all just after attention. (or worse say it doesn't exist. I saw a stamp just now where a person was saying that all disorders were just a big conspiracy for money.)
I just want to be treated as equal no less and no more. It annoys me when people who have it act like jerks.

Me too and when I'm a jerk I don't say "It's okay because ASPERGERS" I'd really prefer if someone thought I was a jerker, than letting them think I was a jerk because of a disability and all other people with that disabilitiy are jerks too

I agree.
Just because you have a disorder doesn't mean you can use it as an excuse. Especially if it doesn't have anything to do with the subject.
I have ADD but I never use it as an excuse. It would be a horrible excuse, and besides,I don't mention it much, either.

GUYS. EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP. WHAT SHE MEANS IS THOSE PEOPLE WHO MILK THEIR DISORDERS TO GET THEIR WAY, ORNEVER ACCEPT SOMETHING IF THEY DONT LIKE IT. Blind people cannot read and do have a very sad handicap, but that does not give them an excuse to be a brat. People who cannot walk can't climb stairs, but that doesnt give them excuses to be assholes to everyone. However, i'm not saying that people who are disabled are only assholes, or ignorant, or whiny, we're only talking about the percentage that is, and uses their unrelated ailments as an excuse for everything and for others to blatanly white knight them.
Lastly, RigidSlut is known to fucking BATHE in controversial topics. S/he may just be the most offensive/unaccepting of other people person alive to date, but that's just too bad. S/he's got basic human rights including free speech <:l

Yes, I hate it when people with ASD mention it in explanation of their missing social cues and the like. Or when blind people use it as an excuse not to read, or people in wheelchairs use it as an excuse not to climb the stairs. Your disability isn't an excuse, people!

One of my closest friends has profound asperger's and some brain damage. He oftentimes steps out of line and says things that are socially unacceptable. If I talk to him and let him know what he's said that's hurtful or inappropriate, he's always very apologetic. He tries so hard to be a good friend.
And I have a mood disorder. Very profound. Sometimes I act or do things that make no sense to others - sometimes even I don't understand.
This deviation just gives me the impression that there are people unable to tolerate behavior or disorders that they don't understand. The artist of this stamp makes me wonder if they've even met someone in person with a real disorder.

It's one thing for you to accept a disorder that you have and know that sometimes you do things that others find offensive or unacceptable and be apologetic for that... the stamp is referring to people who MAY have a disorder but loudly proclaim that they do and use it as a free pass to do whatever they want and never apologize for anything.

GreenMemory In reply to lionsilverwolf [2012-05-26 20:03:06 +0000 UTC]
You openly admit that you no longer take people who say they have disabilities seriously anymore, therefore you're also openly admitting that you discriminate against them and think they're all lying or using their disability to get a free pass. Which is very much not true. You've met a few bad eggs and have passed judgment on a vast community of people. That is your decision - not the fault of the idiots who were rude to you.
People are going to be jerks and use excuses for one thing or another whether or not they have a disorder or disease. Leave the disabled out of your rant.

...no, actually, I have said in the past that like everything else on the internet I figure that if they're not willing to admit that they may have fucked up then they're just assholes. That has absolutely nothing with the REASON they fucked up, but rather their personality. I really don't care if you have a disorder that makes it harder for you if you're not willing to admit that you do things other's find offensive.
Additionally I never expressed any personal views in the previous post, you were clearly just looking for a reason to be pissed off. I was just explaining the reason the stamp existed. Now I'll ask you kindly to please go away with your judgemental nature.

On the internet, anyone can be anything. I have Asperger's, but how would anyone on here know I am not faking it? In real life, the signs are pretty obvious, but on the internet these things are easy to fake, and I have kept my real identity a secret on here. On the other hand, it is probably a lot harder to fake not having a disorder. I don't pick up on a lot of social cues. Pretending that I do isn't very effective. One of the most surprising things about Asperger's is that the one who has is often the last to know. My mother knew I had it years before I did. Neither of us has any psychological training. And I don't think I abuse my diagnosis. I finally got tested so that I could figure out what to do about it, not so that I could use it as an all-purpose excuse.

I used to do this, but then I realized how stupid it was. Just cause you have a disorder doesn't mean you can't adjust and overcome it. It just makes thing harder is all.
Sometimes, I would love to hit my old self with a stick sometimes. -_-

my commission
"9/11 was not that bad."
my reasons why (put them in the description please)
1) If americans are going to whine about that they should see what they did to okinawa's civilians in 1945 (They rapped and killed civilians total deaths (in everyone): like 200000
2)Why don't you go and kill off al Qaeda if your so mad. You killed bin laden but not all of them.
3) If you care so much about terrorists maybe you should go and help syria Al Qaeda would love another weakened country to use.
There are my reasons thank you

I hate it when people do that. Like, I have ADHD but instead of whining to people about how I sometimes unintentionally act impulsive and get distracted around them, I actually try to work on it to better myself.
Of course, not all disorders can be this way, but I think you get what I mean?

If the internet persona is some intentional caricature of a disorder then yes. But some of use really do have disorders and I think it is appropriate to be upfront about it. For instance, I have Asperger's. One of the major symptoms of this is that I have a hard time picking up on social cues. For instance, I often simply do not notice when people are joking. Of course, on the internet, these social cues are often not available, so on the internet it can seem like everyone has Asperger's.
