If you're seeking realism GO ON YOUR WAY. You've been warned, all comment stating : that's not realist will be deleted. If you're commenting without bothering reading the description, maybe I should delete your comment too ?
I'm pretty patient, but not to the point of answering the same question 10th time, okay ?
Looks like some people didn't bother to look for part 2 :Β
Once and for all : the normal or Average CHANGE DEPENDING THE COUNTRY YOUR FROM.
Something could be skinny for you but normal for others. On the contrary what you consider normal could be considered fat by someone else.Β
I'm especially talking to those affected by countries invaded by Junk Food.
THIS IS WHAT I ( and french doctors ) CONSIDER AS THE NORMS : Woman : 1m63 and 63kg ( Men: 1m75 and 77kg ) . It's the average of the woman population etablished by INSEE ( national institute of statistics and economics studies )
It also vary from each individual depending on your education.
Now that this is done, I've made that "chart" because the difference in what my commissioner ask and what I understand can be a problem.
- Model : What I use for fashion design.
- Normal : What I'm usually asked for and go for.
- Meaty : That's what I call chubby, plump and the kind. It's NOT fat. I always start by adding "fat" on the hips and thighs, that's were woman usually start to store it but it depends on your character metabolism and genetic
- Athletic : I'm not really into drawing athletic women. Breasts are lump of fat, your characters are unlikely to have huge breast if they do lots of sports but it also depends on the sports, metabolism and genetic.
Those are the "base" of each category. When you can start seeing the difference between all those.
If I feel like it then I'll develop each category , although I won't go into extremes
Don't repost, don't trace ect ... If you wish to use those as base it's only for non-commercial work and you HAVE TO credit me.

Dude, you're the only one here talking about idealized skinny people lol. Now I get why you're still with this stuff; you feel attacked by her models or something?
Simple: If you want more variety go and do your own, and show them to people. What Rika did here is only show the size of most of her characters; and to show how the bodies start to gain form depending on each model (like the athletic who start with not that much of muscles)
Btw, why don't you go and tell the same to people who draws ONLY extra-muscular or really morbid characters? If what Rika's is doing isn't right for you, then that applies equals to the others. Oh yeah, you wouldn't do that because you know you'll be attacked by everyone; but then is right for you doing the same to an artist who only do skinny models?
Is HER art, she can do whatever she wants. Constructive criticism is always helpful; lbut yours is only pointing and telling her what she should do; Rika's intention was never idealizing a certain person/model. She just post this image and you are just starting a discussion about it. Stop being a douchebag plz.

I'd rather put my effort on job hunting than drawing for the time being
Drawing sadly aren't enough to pay the bills ><

Yeah in terms of character design, that's hardly a difference. I can see it, but it's not enough to really have it's own category of differences..

I agree with other comments below. All these are too similar to be different body types. The proportions are almost the same and there's *maybe* a 20 lb difference between the largest and smallest figure. Once you put clothes on them, you wouldn't be able to see the little variations.
Non-realistic figure drawing should emphasize and exaggerate differences in body types, not eliminate them.

As I said in the desc : "Those are the "base" of each category. When you can start seeing the difference between all those."
If I feel like it then I'll develop each category , although I won't go into extremes
I don't like how you phrased your last sentence tough, pretty sure you didn't meant it but you make it looks like there is only one rules when it comes to stylized drawing. I don't like it

Drawing body types is not the same thing as stylized drawing. You can draw figures in a dozen different styles and still show different body types. Yes, your drawing is stylized. No, you do not show different body types.
Here are examples of different body types in stylized drawings:

When you get the same critique of your work over and over again, maybe consider that people have a point?

I'm strong on my position ( dunno if it's actually a good wording ) in not wanting to be realist no matter what people say

I haven't seen any comments suggesting you should be realistic. The critique is that you are presenting these as being different body types when it's the same body with a slight weight difference. Style isn't when you can draw four different bodies so that they look the same. Style is when you can draw four different bodies and accentuate those differences in a way that is consistently aesthetically appealing.

Together with part one, it definitely shows more variation in weight, which is an immense improvement, but the build is still the same. It still looks like the same person at different weights, not different body types.

Not trolling, just being honest:
They're all the same. Minus the "heavy" (and heavy on the quotes there), they are all basically the same. Unless you want to enter "slightly" before each label, then to me they all look the alike.Β

Well.... technically,Β the human body is the base for all categoriesΒ .
Yes, a normal female body is a little bit of fat with an a-frame built. Actually, your normal female is your "heavy" build. But what about the athletes, for instance, who have smaller/more concealed hips and built, toned shoulders? Instead of the shoulder width being 1.5 heads like your bases, maybe 2-2.5 heads wide because of toned shoulders or maybe broad shoulders?Β
Maybe....?

Oh, I know! High-level runners have narrower hips; basketball players are overall more toned; volleyball tends to be lankier; softball tends to be huskier; so on so forth. So yeah, I agree with that

Β
By stating the my opinion, I wasn't trying to be mean, it's just that.... So far, our opinions go against the majority. I'm just kinda nervous how Rika, or other users who might think our opinions to be aggressive, might become frustrated... you know?
TL; DR: Glad you agree with me Β

In her drawings I, personally, can easily see the difference. It's not like these are bodies in a realistic size or something; is just her way to do bodies; and we all have differences drawing bodies sizes.

I love drawing tall womens because I really like drawing long legs or long torso. The Athletic is my fave; but is hard for me to draw a tonified woman. And I really want to do a meaty girl someday!. The only thing I rarely experimented is their bust; is hard to me draw differents breasts.
btw, I'm short too >v< (1.54 and 53kg). How is called in english? petite? But since I do martial arts, my legs and thighs are wider than the average uvu.

Well her Athletic body is more I say very small version of a muscular women it would be cool to see more like the fighting type of women like Chun li or Cammy from street fighter or like the women of Mortal kombat they still are pretty women all of them but their body types I think are larger then the Athletic type heck some of them are as large or larger then the average male. They are intimidating women.
