02:19 – With a last flicker, the ship's electricity fails, plunging the vessel into darkness. With a terrible creaking crash, Serenity's keel fails and the ship splits in two just behind the aft funnel. The stern crashes back into the water, killing hundreds of people swimming below it. The bow portion, still thinly attached at the keel sinks, pulling the stern almost vertical before finally tearing away.Related content

Yes, it could have done, but it was a bit of a rush job in preperation for a session of Slayers D20. It was an experiment to see if the 'Titanic' scenario could be done in a pen & paper RPG.
The verdict: If you've got a good GM and the right sort of player, hell yes!
