Description
The night is pitch-black all around, save for the uncountable mass of stars winking benevolently at me from the tarp of deepest indigo that hangs overhead. Everything feels suspended in that moment—the stars, the crescent moon, the sparse, gray-black clouds, this little island called Earth, and even myself. It feels as if my feet don't even touch the ground.

I feel as if I'm falling into them, the stars. There are so many of them, filling my field of vision, that I am taken by a sudden bout of dizziness and fall back into the Earth's gentle embrace. In response she twirls me around playfully, pulling me into a slow-motion dance. I smile as the dance ends, and she gradually falls still.

In that moment, between Earth and Sky,
Between a little cabin sleeping peacefully on a quiet night and a universe as vast
And incomprehensible as the number of stars it contains,
Between the deafening sounds of crickets chirping brazenly into the night
And the silent explosion of suns in a far-off galaxy,
Between the billions of people, and billions of animals, and billions of plants I share this planet with.
And all the unnamed being I share this universe with,
Between all the elements I love,
And people I love,
And feelings I love,
Between both the beautifully tragic,
And achingly beautiful sideffects of being a human being,
And being so lucky as to find myself here in the one-out-of-infinity chance of being who I am today,
And landing on the shore of this little spec of an island out of an infinite black sea,
Between everything I know and love,
And all the things I'll never get to know,
I found something:

Home.
