Been a while since I've done a DBZ pic huh? ^^ Aside from a few scribbles here and there anyway. I felt like doing something quick and simple, so I sat down to do this this morning. I was focussing more on playing with a different colouring style than on a strong concept, this time. I'm still not happy with the lineart, but I'm really like how the colouring turned out.

Aw aren't they cute? I love the "bromance" that develops between the two of them. Goku is like a younger brother for Vegeta, I think.

I like how one side is done in warm colors while the other is done is cool colors. It's a nice contrast.

Wow i love the shadeing!!!! I'm only used to drawing dbz origenaly the way its drawn lol, well atleast in my last dbz sketch of goku vs cell, but thats only in my scraps lol, I should color it one day....

Unlike you, I prefer the lineart over the colouring. I feel it needs to be softer -- try duplicating your colour layers and applying a low Gaussian blur on them, ay about a 40% opacity.

No thanks, if I had wanted a 'soft' feel for this picture I would have done it soft. I don't really think that 'soft' shading goes too well with DBZ because the style isn't meant to be realistic, unlike, say, the Final Fantasy games where the characters are closer to realistic style.

Might be a problem with the aliasing. What I mean are the areas like Vegeta's and also Goku's hair at the front , and along Vegeta's chin, which seem to have possibly suffered from compression.
Yeah, DBZ's style is a lot more block-shaded than some others, but I thought a softening might be in order just to cover up some of the parts that I mentioned.

I like how the darkest shadows make that part of the body fade into the background...really cool effect ^^
I like the contrast of red and blue ^^
I do think that Gokou doesn't really look like Gokou though...it's his eye I think

Wow! The coloring IS brilliant!! (escpecially the mid-tone between yellow and green on vegeta!)
I can point out the error with the lineart pretty easy, if you wanna' know what it is... It's merely that you drew very american-hero portraits, rather than anime ones... *points* see, the face is a lot straighter and taken up by a pretty square jaw..
