With this piece, I wanted a real sense of scale. The theme is all about flight and trusting yourself. I wanted it to feel like a dream; the only way to find out if you can fly or not is to jump.Time: Approx 5-6 hours

I reminds me of the Dinotopia series by James Gurney when I was a little kid. From what I remember, there is a group of people who protect the island. They ride pterodactyls. The riders, once trained to ride will jump off a huge overhang on a cliff. Whichever pterodactyl picks up the rider will become their partner for life. There was also a mini series done about it.

I love how deep this goes, from the intense close up to the edge of the horizon. It makes for such a grand view, almost like you can imagine soaring over those distant trees. And while the scenery is captivating, I'm very interested in the forefront character, and the curious race of creatures that are in flight. The color scheme of the humanioid suggests, to me, that they're all of the same species... I'd hazard that was intentional?
Hmm. Do I sense a Sandman reference in the artist's comments?

I absolutely love the concept of perspective in this picture. It gives you the feeling that you long to fly yet you are chained to your spot because you physically can't like the birds over the canyon.

Nice work, though since you wanted critique.
Its hard to see the size of the bird relative to the man, this because its really hard to see how high the bird is flying.
also the stone bridge in the middle and the waterfall behind it seem incorrectly. (the depth seems a bit wierd there too, with the water fall hitting the birdge, but also going behind it)
