So I just got back from Oz Comic-con Melbourne (with a cold as a souvenir, bleeeehhh). The convention was wonderful though!
Anyway, there was this terrible piece of abstract art on the wall of the place we stayed… it basically looked like someone had painted 12 circles in different colours then called it a day. The kicker? It was a print of said lazy abstract art, as there was a completely identical copy on the other wall.
So sitting there, with pencil in hand, frazzled after a long day at the convention, it seemed like the most logical thing in the world to draw a whole bunch of round things. Lots of pokemon are round, okay!

This I fabulous... except for the sun and moon starter. He weirds me out anytime I see him. Least favorite of the three. What medium did you use to create this amazing piece?

That's an interesting question! When I had the idea, I thought I'd do it in watercolour. I got about half way through colouring it in watercolour, but just wasn't happy with the colours I was getting.
Fortunately I'd scanned the lineart, so I re-did it in Photoshop (so the paper texture is real water colour paper but the paint is not!). XD ...yeah, every so often I dabble in traditional arts, and it always just reminds me why I prefer to work in digital medium.

I ... kind of wish you could go super impose/paste a print of this over the abstract print in the room. At least one of the two. I wonder if any of the staff would notice if the background colour was similar enough?

Yeah - so much of modern art is lazy or obnoxious. I much prefer stuff by actual artists like yourself! (Why do so many directors of museums and galleries not share my opinion?)
