You made a great job with the pic. Morwen is very elegant here, yet without unnecessary details. She is beautiful without any doubt but also cold and distant. She is among my least favourite characters and I considered her as one of the worst mothers in Silmarillion (only beaten by Elwing in this category), but she is also character that one cannot simply forget. Many other Edain women are similar to each otherΒ but she is special. Her fate was terrible but I disliked her so much that feel no pity for her and believe she got what she deserve for the pride and behaviour. Nevertheless, it is a mastery of Tolkien to create a character that evokes such strong feelings, without committing any crime. You portrayed her perfectly: majestic, proud lady of noble house who cares for her pride more than for own kids, too proud to love kids.

Thank you very much for your comment, that was really interesting to read, though I can't agree with you... And you forgot Miriel in the list of waful mothers (in my opinion she's the winner) Β

For me no one can beat Elwing, but Miriel is the second . Morwen seemed for me terribly cold in books, but in her situation some explanation appears. Do not show emotions (weakness) once surrounded by enemies.

She's cold, yes. But to say she's too proud to love her kids is a bit far!Β
When Turin cries 'when will I see you again Morwen?!', she grips the wood of the door-frame 'so that her fingers were torn', because she has no choice but to wrench her son away from herself, by her own doing. It's as if she is losing her second child (i.e., possibly to death in the wilderness). Likewise, a woman does not lay on the tomb of her deceased children (granted Nienor was not there) to die, if there is no love between them.
Cold yes; distant, yes. And she also made a lot of bad choices in difficult circumstances. But how much of that was due to Morgoth's curse upon the whole of Hurin's family and kin?

This is wonderful.Morwen is so often portrayed as uptight, but you portray her with grace, but preserve her pride.

I think you captured Morwen's expression perfectly: determined, strong and protective. To me, she's one of the most amazing female characters
