Penelope’s middle name (Aofie) as well as her parents’ (Aibhlinn and Aaron) are all of Irish origin, in homage to selkie mythology.

She loves pastel colours and even went as far to dye half of her hair baby pink.

She loves her parents equally, but is slightly closer with her father as her mother is often away gathering stock for the family stall.

The bracelet on her right wrist is made of tiny pebbles sanded down into hearts – a gift from her mother.

Annoyed with the ‘boring’ colours her medical supports came in, she decided to personalise hers with colourful frills and bows.

Her favourite treat is chocolate ice cream. Sometimes looking at her tail reminds her of it and she gets hungry.

She refuses to let anyone pick her up in her seal form. This is due to the fact that her tail causes her a great increase in weight which she is highly embarrassed about.

At night, she has to sleep with barriers on either side of her bed as during her sleep is the only time she struggles to control her form. If her seal tail hangs off the edge of her bed only a little, the weight will overcome her and she’ll fall out.

The flowers she wears in her hair are carnations. She has no idea what they symbolise, she just thinks they’re pretty.

She really struggles to lie, even when it comes to small white lies. This occasionally gets her into trouble.

She does want a relationship eventually and tries not to worry about how long it’ll take to find a man who’s accepting of her nature.

Due to Penelope’s struggle to walk on land, Eloise often visits her and the two have beach days together. The only thing is that Eloise hates swimming, and Penelope hates flying (Eloise has tried more than once to take off with Penelope in her arms).

She is also acquainted with Eloise’s girlfriend Shioru, who she thinks very highly of. However she’s is vastly jealous of Shioru’s natural hair gradient.
