Description
I hope this is helpful in someway, and I really hope it comes out okay. I realize I wasn't extremely specific, but still...
The main thing you really need to do is experiment on your own. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that you are your own teacher.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to eat spaghetti and watch some Daleks Exterminate some Sh**!

Haha! You may have been on the wrong tool. The program definitely takes some getting used to. It's been five years, and I'm no where near mastering it.

Is Photoshop Cs5 free? Or does it cost a lot of money? Or if it costs money how much does it normally cost? And is it better to use a computer or a tablet? (Omg! So many questions! >.< sorryΒ ) Because i use a free version of Paint Tool SAI and its always a pain in the butt to use. So i was looking for a new drawing program.

Photoshop Cs5 isn't free, it's about...oh man, in the hundred $s. It's actually an outdated version of photoshop now.
Haha! A "tablet" like the one I have, is not a tablet like an Ipad. Tablets are things that connect to the computer so that you can draw on the computer. They don't normally have a screen, but they allow pen pressure (which is invaluable for digital artists).
Paint Tool SAI can be an amazing program if you use how to use it, and can use pen pressure. SAI is, in some ways, better than photoshop because it has a line stabilizing option, which means it's better for line art.

River, I wanted to ask you. I've seen your recent videos, and I see you have a soft brush, but also hardish ? I don't know. But umm.... Which brush tool do you use? Because the round brush isn't soft, and you always know you need soft brushes for things. I'm doing a Background ref. for Sun affects, and I was just curious Β

Oh man, I honestly can't name the brushes I use.
I know I use a regular round brush for line art, and for subtle lighting I use a spray brush with no pen pressure.
Other brushes that I regularly use I created myself or downloaded from other artists on Deviantart.

Wylfen In reply to AlphasElioo [2015-04-11 18:42:13 +0000 UTC]
You can, but sometimes, it leaves a Little Color border around the object ^^'
But you can follow this:
, that should help against the stupid border.

Thanks! This is what I do though, I use the magic wand then go to select, modify, expand by 2 pixels, then inverse the selection.

I have a questionΒ Β
While your shading how low or high would you put the opacity in a night scene
π: 0 β©: 1
RiverSpirit456 In reply to almisty1223 [2014-11-10 11:41:16 +0000 UTC]
It depends on the time of day I'm drawing, and the amount of light.
In the day, I'd say the shading is normally at an opacity of around 30%. At night, around 40%, and at a sunset 50-even 60% because of the harsh sunlight.Β

Amazing. I'm drawing on GIMP while reading this. (The reason I can't use Photoshop is because it has this glitch where... Lets say I have a black cat. I want to put a white splotch on it. Everything is sealed up, but the colour just fills the whole shape. This happens with my Paint.NET too)

I have Adobe Photoshop elements 11, it's pretty much the same thing but looks a little different. I also have Corel painter essentials 4, which is much different. And when I was trying to colour my drawings my old way on those two programs ( I used to outline AND colour on the exact same frame) it looked really ugly, but this helped a lot.

I don't know if this will help, but what i do is i made the background transparent, and on a new layer i select Multiply, then it only draws inside the lines and under the lines, but when i draw with a background then i make the new layer white and then multiply on then you wont see the lines underneath, i use GIMP Β *trying out this tutorial*Β

Could someone explain for me? I don't have an art program so like I use DA Muro. I'm asking is that when I color in the outline(the layer is beneath the outline layer) how come the outline doesn't pop out? Do I need to change the opacity of the color or what? Thanks for replying!

I don't have photoshop yet, but do you know some good instructions on how to draw backgrounds, animals, and shade good in pencil?
π: 0 β©: 1
RiverSpirit456 In reply to Tailbolt [2014-07-29 14:56:58 +0000 UTC]
Well, my only real tip is to draw from life. Look at some trees and maybe simplify how they are. The bark can be simplified by looking at how comic book artists draw. Animals, same thing.
Speedpaints are really helpful. Just go on a speedpaint spree. Look up random speedpaints and watch how different artists draw. Look on Google Images for references.
A good person to learn from (although he only does anime) is Mark Crilley. He has a whole bunch of tutorials on Youtube.
Shading is pretty easy. Just keep it light at first, then deepen some shadows. Remember, shadows within shadows. Don't forget where the light is coming from!

Ok, thnx for the advice! I'm slowly getting better. Plus, I can draw rocks really good by hand due to the shading.
