I know Veera has become popular, but she's also become a very personal character for me. So Please, be respectful and don't take my artwork or my character designs for your own use.
Another attempt at 'realistic' digital painting. This time featuring Veera!
I like the background, I found a really sweet tutorial Here: sunjo.deviantart.com/art/Advan⦠that helped a TON.
I even painted the nebulas and bits of stars myself! *is proud*
So far I am satisfied, there are a few things that I want to render a little better, but it is a long line of never ending strings of "I want to make this look better" that if I try to actually do them all I'm only going to 'reduce myself to a screaming fit' as one of my friends put it.
All in due time I suppose.
I have too much fun writing the K'takzyl language thingies. I'm brainstorming on numbers now XD
This should be the last bit of my angsty pictures, I promise.

This would seem like a cool movie poster. The coloring reminds me of "Alien" or something. "In space, no one hears you scream."

Awesome work, Ri, as usual! I have no idea why, but Veera has always been an interesting and attractive subject for a lot of your artwork, and I like the attempts at realism you're going for. Hopefully, this endeavor has helped out your skills a little!

Your nebulas look FANTASTIC! I love the detail in the background! Veera's a little hard to pick out, but she is wearing a black suit in space, so no biggie. I love the sweeping movement of her hair/tail! Also, what does the text say? My curiosity is piqued!

But Thank you for the feedback! I always like to try and do things by hand instead of using a photos/filters, that way I am improving my rendering skills. Her suit is actually a dark grey, but I wanted to give the image a darker tone (tis dark in space) with harder shadows and contrast. It may still be a bit dark, though, I was hoping the back lighting would pull her out of the background enough.

By hand is definitely something fun to do, as you feel more accomplished at the end. And that makes sense. It's pretty good as it is, gives it a bleak/sad look.

The planet is Wonky how so? Is the shadow off? is it too big/small?

It looks slightly flattened on one side rather than circular, it could be because the intensity of light around it is less rather than an actual irregularity?

I didn't see anything too wrong, other than maybe the bottom light source is a bit strong compared to the planet in the the left bottom corner?
Then again, I fail at light source stuff, so I may be completely wrong. XD;;;

It's possible. The light source I wanted to be below and behind the character (that's where I see the 'sun' being in relation to the planet/moon) So I wanted it to have a rim light effect to make the dark shadows, and to make a small outline of the character to bring her out of the background a bit more.
