8/2/08 - Abandoned PA Turnpike, Breezewood, PAThis was taken right after a flash rainstorm about a mile outside of the western portal of the Rays-Hill Tunnel on a 13 mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike that has been abandoned since 1968.
My exploration engineer ~cmulcahy and I covered and documented the entire stretch of road end to end and back again the Second of August, Two Thousand and Eight.

I think I traveled that road when it was still opne in like 1967. Did that run close to the Maryland Border?

Close enough to the MD border. I may have traveled it as well since we used the PA Turnpike to travel from Ohio to New Jersey. In 1968 I was too young to remember it though. I'd have to check with Moms to be sure, however, her memory fails her frequently, always has...
