Description
Here is the 2nd pumpkin of 2008. I did this for my theater group as well. We raffled it off as part of our Haunted House fund raiser to fund our Narnia show and future shows. I had been really looking forward to doing this one as I don't often do realistic pumpkins had fun with the shading. All my pumpkins are sketch with a standard pen, then shaded and detailed using Sharpies and Goo Gone, then shaved with wood working tools and finally gutted and thinned out from the inside so the light shows through. They can range from 3-6 hrs total, but I've been getting better at it every year so the time is slowly getting faster and the detail/textures/techniques getting better.

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you like the pumpkins.
You can color the end of a Q-Tip with a Sharpie and then put some Goo Gone on it, ring it out a bit then you get shades of gray. You can vary the gray tones by adding or going over more sharpie to make it darker or use it on a part of the pumpkin with less sharpie over it and the gray tone with fade to a lighter gray (Shadows). Then shave the pumpkin in varying depths to get the opposite effect (highlights). Over time you can master a really nice balance of grayscales. Have fun!
Nice pumpkins BTW!!!!
