[Erik] drew endlessly, obsessively, on any surface that was available. If I did not keep him continually supplied with paper, I would find his designs on the flyleaf of my father's books, on the reverse side of his plans--even on the wallpaper up the side of the stairs. I initially voted against that theme; I've done two paintings and a photo-manip of Erik 'composing' and I didn't want to do another one. Then this idea came to me, and I was very grateful.
The other title I had considered for this painting was 'Castle on a Cloud'... I've been listening to Les Mis too much...

I love that part in the book, goes to show how much of an artist Erik was as a child (: Would be very cool if he had a deviantArt as well : D I really like the colours used in this paintings, it really brings out a childhood feel to it, makes us remember how life was when we were kids, I used to draw on the walls as well, except with permanent marker on white paint. : P
