I only ask because of your description of the wound itself.  Not that I want her to die.  I can imagine a follow up of doing so to be honest.  Would be great and tragic at the same time.

this was drawn almost completely in SAI, with a bit of leveling in Photoshop afterwards to correct for a crappy monitor color calibration.
