A semaphore signal, water tower, and tunnel mark the approach to the headshunt and sidings at the Haverthwaite end of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway in the Lake District of England. The railway was a Furness Railway branch that went beyond Haverthwaite to the main line junction at Ulverston, but was closed by British Railways in 1965 (a Beeching Axe victim) and the preservationists were not able to reconnect the railway to the main line -- and to Steamtown Carnforth -- after opening the heritage railway in 1973. If anyone is building a model railway, this tunnel would be an interesting way to camouflage trains going "offstage."
