Description Capable of 460 miles per hour, the Grumman F7F Tigercat was the U.S. Navy's first twin-engine fighter.  It served the Navy and Marines from 1944 to 1954, shooting down a few Soviet planes over Korea but never playing a major role.  A slightly sun-bleached F7F-3N 30382 is on display outside the Planes of Fame Museum with its wings folded and propellers removed.

Fun fact: The Tigercat was to have been called the Tomcat, but the Navy considered the name inappropriate at the time.
