I'm just gonna say it: Manbat deserves his own darker and edgier, gritty reboot batman movie!(and one with jim carry or NPH as the riddler. they'd both be so good for it, i'm torn!)

The detail is simply stunning and utterly amazing, the only bone I have to pick is with the arms, the wings are amazing but the forearm is kinda off, with no thumb and all.

So how do YOU go about using a pencil drawing in photoshop? I've been trying loads of different ways for a while and none of them are all that pleasing to me.

i do a pencil drawing, scan it, then color over it.

OVER it? You don't separate the line? Do you use a multiply layer or something on the colour? Sorry to be nosy. It just works so well on this image you've done.
