Stupid smileys don't work the way I want them to. That was supposed to be a look of awe. This turned out fantastic.

Hehe, thanks. The smileys just confuse me because too many people use them to mean different things >.<

I'm happy with the photo. I want to try it again, I just need to buy lights that way I can get them cooked and lighted the same. Tungsten bulbs are fun, when you aren't the subject.

That's an interesting thought... I did find a set of three that is less than 200, and I'm thinking if I'm really nice to a particular person they might just front me the money. But I do have some amazing lights that I might try to use... But thanks for the idea, I never thought about that!

Oh, haha, this is way more than a hobby for me. I'm looking in to becoming a professional photographer, so in my mind this is just an investment for my future career. Albeit I won't be using these lights forever.

oh, and they arent leaning in together as much as they were before, and I dig that because it makes it less of trying to fit together, and more of a just natural thing of being together

this one is so much better cropped than the other. I really really like it. I like that you included more than just the faces so much. Now we have so much more that connects them together.
And I dont know if you did this purposely, but the way their arm becomes one is awesome.
I like the way they're cut off, it really makes you seem them not so much as two people together, but more as just one altogether, get what I mean?

I get what you mean. I didn't see it at first, honestly. I feel this one has a much more natural element that the others lack. I'm trying to find poses that suit them together, but still have enough play in them so they don't feel posed.

yeah definitely a lot more natural element. I've recently begun doing nude photos(which I don't post on the internet per request of the model) and what Ive done is I search online and look at nude poses that people have done, and I sketch poses based on what I've seen, either they are what I've seen or inspired by. You can always do that. and once you get them in a certain pose, you can always try just moving them around, or doing this or that. Its good if you have a model who is willing to follow your lead. And if you dont make anything good, then just keep going.

I think I might try sketching. I always get ideas, and they just get lost in all that goes on. I have a model that I use for nudes, and she's okay with it as long as I don't have her face or anything identifying information.

thats awesome. I never thought my favorite place to work would be the studio, I was scared about light control, and i still get nervous in there "Oh god am I getting the right light reading? what if she has weird shadows?"etc. My first nudes I think I over developed a little bit, because she ended up coming out extremely white(I used a black back drop too, which probably didn't help) and I had to burn her down so much to get her normal, it was such a pain but I got better at burning? haha.

Blech, I've never been good at dodging and burning. I take that back. I've never been good at actually doing it when the print wasn't for a major project.
The darkest blacks are developed first, so if you didn't get the subtler tones, maybe you under developed your film? Just a thought. I just want to end up working with photography, but it's so hard because I'm just a senior in high school, so who knows what'll happen between now and then?

yeah, if you under develop you will push highlights down, over developing brings out highlights and thus makes it more contrasty.
You knkow how when you develop film ideal is 68? We have a chart for times for temps around that, and I always misread the thermometer, because theres this other line there, and I mistake 70 for 72, and that little bit of time will do it.
I take it youre taking photo classes in school, which is a good step. Go to school for it. a lot of it, is knowing techniques and mastering them and being able to manipulate them to what you want them to be. In my first semester I learned 100000 times more than what i did in the year that I took photo in high school.
All I can say, is just keep shooting and shooting and shooting. Do exercises where you play with light and master that and manipulate it.
You can only becomem great by doing!
