Description
A piece done in oils. I wanted to portray the cruel physical nature of ballet. The painting I feel is not quite done, but I don't know when i'll get to working on it again so I submitted it now. This one was challenging since i'd never painted in oils before but alot of fun.Related content

thank you so much for portraying the pain in ballet. some people commented that the toes don't curl under like that, but they do. some people's might not, but mine do.

the physical nature of ballet may be cruel, but it's as they say; beauty from pain.
and really, if you have correctly fitted shoes and strong enough feet, it feels quite comfortable.
a beautiful picture none the less.

yeah I belive that, <3 it may be painfull and leave you with injured feet but to me it's worth it because I love ballet and I wouldn't give it up fo rthe world and I don't care if it hurts because it the moves turn out perfect in the end

I've had several people tell me that, but I was trying to express the physical demand required of professional dancers. And thank you so much, I always appreciate it

Love this, you've manipulated the oils incredibly well for this being your first time; i agee with =Sarawr-kun , though, you could definitely stretch the cast shadows more if you go back to this piece, and maybe define the ribbons a bit more against the skin.
I love the contours of the bare foot though, right down to the toes.

Thank you, it was really confusing at first but it slowly came to me. I never enjoyed painting prior to my use of oils, but now I really am loving it. I still have a long way to go. The same things were bothering me, but deadlines kept me from fixing them.

Nice one. I agree with =Sarawr-kun on the shadows on the ground, but I think more shadows on everything would be good. I'm not sure really, never used oils ever.

Yep, I agree entirely with you. I needed to meet a strict deadline so I had to sacrifice finishing the piece. I hope to finish this up in a few weeks and I will make sure to work on the shadows
