Description
Request for Maria From Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (also Harmony of Despair) stuck hip deep in swamp mud as she tries desperately to get herself free. I added a couple of extra details to make it a bit more interesting. Death sensing Maria's impending doom and is drifting in from the background to stake his claim on her soul and a frog laughing at Maria's approaching defeat.
This was quite an easy one to do but Maria's face would NOT turn out any better than that, no matter what I tried.

The proportions are a little off, but not completely wacko. I like your use of silhouette with the trees and what looks like death coming to take her away! It gives it a somewhat eerie feel to it, like it's dangerous, which (by the looks of it) the scene is quite dangerous, being stuck in that bog. I don't know of this show, but that character that is laughing at her right there doesn't seem like a very nice character, (but if he is, then maybe you should have drawn him seeming worried rather than amused? But if he is supposed to be a not very nice character then ignore me).
The moon is a nice feature. I like how it is hidden my mist or clouds, but still reflects brightly.
Overall, this is a nice drawing but you might want to pay a bit more attention to the proportion of body parts e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

Thanks so much for the critique! Though this is one of my worse ones and I didn't spend an awful amount of time on it. Critics always seem to be drawn to my worse ones, but it's my stronger ones that really need it.
Castlevania isn't a show, (I bloody wish it was though!) it's a series of video games, one that I'm a die hard fan of. I portrayed the frog perfectly I think. He does, after all want Maria and Richter dead. He's an irritating enemy that appears in stage 4', and quite a lot. Yes, he's an evil frog. He'd want nothing more than to see Maria or Richter sinking in thick bog like this.
It doesn't matter how much I pay attention to body proportions. People will always seem to think they're wrong while I can't even see any issues.
But again, thank you.

Ah, videogame? Sorry, I probably should have looked into it more before making assumptions.
I added a critique because it appeared in my deviantwatch (since I'm watching the group you added it to) and had nothing better to do really.
I'm not too great at body proportions either, to be honest. That's why I usually only draw headshots ^.^;
Maybe you should look at a tutorial online about how to get the proportions right? It helps for me to draw guide lines (circles and stuff-) so that I know where I'm working, then go from their. Of course, you erase them afterwards but you get the idea ; u ;

No worries, not everyone will know about it. Even if it is one of the most famous video game franchises of all time. If this one sparked your interest, you might like to visit my gallery and see some of my better works. I'd always be grateful for more critique as well at any time. ^^ I do draw out basic shapes like circles for the head and stuff, which does make it easier but not really any more effective. Avoiding drawing parts of the body because you not confident with it is bad. If you never draw it, you never WILL get any better. People actually seem to admire those who draw outside of their comfort zones and take chances like that. I've tried tutorials in the past but if they ever worked, or helped at all, I wouldn't still be as bad as I am now.

Well let's keep practicing and I'm sure we'll both get better! People constantly say 'Practice makes perfect' but then people ignore the fact that it is incredibly true. With every drawing, you should have gotten better or learnt something new u v u

Yeah true, I wouldn't call that practice though, it's just doing. And there's a quite a difference between practising and doing. I don't bother with practice, I just get on with my drawings and listen to critiques and stuff.

This is a lovely pic of Maria. The fact that she's stuck in gooey mud make it even better. If the situation wasn't so dire, I'm sure she would be enjoying this.

Perhaps, but I don't know. Who would want to get all that muck in that gorgeous hair and lovely dress of hers? :3

Either way, it looks like a fun place to play...despite the fact that Death is waiting...

True. Although Death isn't waiting. This is stage 3' and Death waits in stage 5. He's coming her now to take Maria's soul as he senses her eminent defeat. :3

Somebody needs to "whip" Death back into shape.

Thanks. Maybe I should have my own character Julie take care of Death. She need not fear him, for she is immortal.

Either way, Julie would be happy to help Maria...even if she becomes even messier.
(I really love Maria's gooey hand.)
