Description
Based on the song by the same name by Sting. One of my favorite songs... ^^Yes, her legs are really long, I know, but... Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. It took me a while... And this is the pic that gave my mom the idea that I should be a clothing designer. o.o'' Uh... no. I hope she turned out as pretty as I meant her to... I'm re-drawing her in another pic of mine with several other characters, including the one from Spanish Dancer.
Um, the idea for a name for her... Nefret. I actually got this idea from a book. 'Nefer' is the ancient Egyptian word for 'beautiful'... Add the feminine ending 't'... And since 'Nefert' sounds weird, you change it to 'Nefret'. Sound good?
... I don't think I have anything else to say about this. *shrug* Comments?
Medium: Mechanical pencil (0.7, 0.5), Prismacolor pencils, slight editing with PhotoImpression (to blur the background and make it more smooth looking).

Since I'm back from my holiday, I'll give you a comment ^_^
I like her pose, it's sweet, and she looks a bit shy, but also daring. I also like the way you color, with the shades and stuff. And I also like the name you gave her ^_^ It fits her well.
But since you made it 'critique welcome' I'll give you some critique to make it more perfect. You allready said that her leggs are quite long. Now that doesn't matter, because in manga, leggs are quite long ^_^ But also the rest of her anatomy is not completely correct. I'll try to explain how you make it better, but i don't know if you are going to understand it (Explaining things in English is quite hard when you don't speak English yourself). Maybe you need to draw her from some sort of 'model'. When I draw a body (or a face, or whatever) I first make myself a figure of the pose. That is with circles and squares etc. Like: her head is first a circle, and than I draw a few lines to make it longer, and then I draw lines to where I need to draw the eyes, the hairline etc. Now with a body I use the same manner. I begin with a line, that is around 6 or 7 times a long as I want the head, and than devide it. (like the leggs start at the half, and the breast are a head below the head, the upper arm is 1,5 head, etc). Maybe you can use that way to. I just use it for a few months now, and I think my drawings are becoming more beautiful when the anatomy is correct.
I hope you understand what I'm saying and that it is helpful to you. When you use that way, your figures become from beautiful to even more beautiful ^_^

Thanks for the compliments, and thank you even more for the suggestions! ^^ Yes, I know what you're talking about... I do that sometimes, but I always feel that when I do it for anime-style pieces, they come out looking... different. I'm not sure exactly how. Oh well, I guess I just need more practice, eh? But really, thank you!
Oh, I do have another work-in-progress with this character in it, and I think she looks a lot better there. I just have to actually finish the piece... It's got a bunch of the characters I draw, which is strange because I usually don't draw more than a couple of characters in one pic. But I'm doing it as a thank-you for the other website that I'm on. There you can vote whether or not you like a piece, and I have gotten over 100 votes now. ^^ So I re-drew her, along with a few others. I'll put it up if and when it's finished.
