A neat design. But the magazine and ejection port doesn't seem feasible. Think a slight angle change could fix that.

I know that it wouldn't really be feasible, but I think it looks cool.

the concept and design are amazing, the over all look of the firearm is a very believable. I'm sure that other have noticed that the ejection port and magazine do not line up. this can be fixed by moving the magazine follower up more this would also straighten the magazine up a little too. there is also the issue of iron sights, the idea i have would make the the top rail recede into the top of the frame and become part of the firearm your iron sights will run over top of the of the rail and will not interfere with any attachments that the user may wish to apply.

Pretty cool it looks fairly believable how ever the ejection port and mag alignments bug me. I can't think of any firearms where the magazine and ejection port don't line up. Maybe its because there's no room for the bolt carrier. I know its just a fictional gun but I kind of have a gun obsession problem.

have you ever seen an F2000. the rifle is a bullpup, yet the shells come out near the very front of the gun

Good Point, It's sad that I forgot that one, as its one of my favorite rifles. I'd love to see a cross section of an F2000. Perhaps is just how far that mag is pushed to the back of the weapon. As mentioned before along with the bolt carrier theres a hand full of other mechanism that go right behind the mag. Just moving the mag forward would make this 100% feasible. I do agree with the description as a machine pistol. Sorry something is just bugging me about the ass end of that gun. Still is pretty cool.

See my answer to the first post of *projectvxn. I just make my guns to look good. Feasability is only a minor concern.. if at all.

I searched but I could find projectvxn, anyways, One of lives seemingly infinitely flexible mottos is hard encoded into my perceptions of just about anything...
"If it looks good it shoots good." Firearms
"If it looks good it flys good." Aircraft
"If it looks good it drives good." Automotive

"I just make my guns to look good." Then by some happy mistake almost all you guns look functional. Keep up the good work.

Auto-pistol? More like SMG.

Very cool design. Gas operated or piston?

I have no idea tbh... I have almost no knowledge of how guns work, so I stick to the exterior design.

projectvxn In reply to Robbe25 [2010-12-20 15:49:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, I imagine this weapon, because of it's size, cannot support a buffer spring to recycle the bolt...So no gas operated rotating bolt(AKA Direct Impingement). A Gas piston system would require much shorter spaces to cycle the action...So I would add a gas piston system if you wanna keep the design as it is... Or, you'd have to change the design overall to created a recoil based slide and spring system like semi-auto pistols. But then it would be only semi-auto...

On another note, I've seen some seriously good designs on dA as far as weapons go...This is no exception...You'd be an asset to a company like Magpul Industries or Bushmaster should you decide to take your art and your level of knowledge to the next level.

I was thinking more Auto Pistol when I ordered it, So I imagine pistol slide about the barrel and chamber... and there it is! Seriously great job man, I love it.

It's basically EXACTLY what I wanted. So far this is the best channucka present this year, and considering the only other one I got was from my parents, thats saying a lot.

And a big thanks for your second part .

Here's a detailed diagram of an AR 15, a basic semi-automatic rifle used by civilians and police in the US. Clickity . The military version of this system has different parts and tolerances...But it would be better to start with the civilian version because it's semi-auto action is simpler to understand mechanically.

Among the most simple rifles...The understanding of the basic anatomy of this rifle is a damned good place to start if you want to start creating weapons that are more true to principle..

What amazing to me is that you have managed a proprietary external firearm design that is workable, and would be mechanically sound should it be constructed, without any knowledge of internal workings.

Kudos to you.
