And now for something completely different.
The last fennec fox I saw was in the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, and that was waaaaay back in 2007 before I had even made the switch to digital photography. 
So, when I saw that the Sacramento Zoo had a relatively new exhibit with not one but two fennec foxes in it, I made a break for it. That I got completely sidetracked with lion cubs and only got to the fennec fox by accident when the lions went inside for the day is immaterial. 
In any case, the glass is unfortunately horrible in quality, so the shots I got were likewise horrible in quality. This is one of ~2 shots out of 100 I took that was semi-salvagable, so no prints or high res this time around unfortunately. Hope you like it!

It looks amazing! Even if the glass is no help, at least the fox's face came out really sharp and clear, and there was also enough light. Β The only zoo near me that has fennecs keeps them in a very dark enclosure so you can't even really take photographs.Β Β You are so lucky to have been able to get this shot!

Yup, there was a fair amount of luck involved here, I'm sure. They were nervous little foxes, largely due to their enclosure being so wide open to the public, and I gather that they've changed things up in the months since I last visited to try to calm them down a bit. I'll be looking forward to heading back to see how they're faring.

Aw wow I think it looks fantastic, particularly with what sounds like quite an un photography friendly exhibit!Β The ones at my local zoo are really skittish and the exhibit is pretty dark so I never manage to get good shots :cΒ I love fennecs though, can't resist those faces.Β

Definitely not photographer friendly. I am eager to go back though, because I didn't really have a chance to shoot through all the glass. I'm sure there's a clear spot somewhere in there, and when I find it, boy will it be rewarding.
