Description
My old friend the western spotted skunk , laying down and having a rest in a nice, comfy patch of prickly pear cactus. Doesn't get much more comfortable than that.Related content

Yep, someone's been chomping on it from the looks of it.

This looks so adorable! The spots on his head seem almost painted on (or are they?) but look SUPER cute!
Lovely capture of a very unusual animal I certainly never heard of it before

Yup, it's a wide world of skunks out there. Everyone pictures striped skunks when they hear the word "skunk," but some of the other species are quite cute and/or exotic. Glad you like the shot.

You're welcome
And it sure is nice to see another type of skunk once in a while

Thanks! He was definitely more agreeable posing for pictures once he got into the protection of the cactus patch.

I'd probably have been more likely to give him a hug before he climbed in there and got all covered in cactus spines. Actually, on second thought, spines or not, it probably would have been a bad idea to try to hug him at all.

First I thought it was a badger, but badgers aren't that cute.

There are allegedly a few badgers out on the ranch where we caught this guy, but in 3 or so years of using remote sensing cameras, we only got 2 or 3 pictures total. Would have been doubly amazing if we'd been able to trap a badger for photography though.

If you keep posting this darlin', I'm going to get interested in skunk as a companion all over again.

Haha, well I have plenty more pictures of him. It's just a matter of whether I'm too lazy to get around to posting them or not.
