Had a good chance to photograph the meerkats at the Oakland Zoo. They had a sentry tower just about 10 feet away from my camera, so I was able to take some good portraits of them as they came out and kept and eye out for danger.

I've always found Meerkats interesting, though not because of the Lion King. Rather it's the similarities between them and the North American Prairie Dogs.

Yup, they're both cute little [probably flea and tick and black plague infested] animals. I've had a few chances to go out and see some prairie dog towns in Texas, and they're pretty fun to watch. Crazy skittish though, so it's tough to get pictures of them.
