Here's the male cub at the Sacramento Zoo from last year, sporting a big honking bone and a little forehead tag from an altercation he had with Dad some time before. They were always a physical bunch, but I can definitely see why they decided to separate dad from the cubs.

He was kind of in that in between age. Not quite full grown, but not quite a cub anymore. Teenager lion.
