Description
The jaguar at the Sacramento Zoo. Very cool cat, and I'm proud to say that we had a bit of a moment together. If you've ever seen The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and you recall the scene with the snow leopard, it was one of those moments. You just kinda let the camera go by the wayside for a minute and take the scene in for yourself.I guess that was my zen koan for the day: Sometimes the best part of photography is the photos you don't take. Or something.

Thanks! I've had relative trouble photographing jaguars of late, so I'm happy to have a few shots worth sharing.

I switched up my editing process a bit this time around to kind of "smooth out" the sharpening process and make everything a bit clearer, so hopefully it'll come across. If not, then oh well. Such is life. Glad you like the shot.

I'm glad to hear you could step out of the frame and savour the moment. I'm also glad you got this wonderful picture! Yes, that front does make a pretty pathetic hiding spot, but we can admire the jaguar all the more.

It's something I don't do often enough, I think. I usually go into the day with the mindset that I'm going to work now and I can enjoy the photos later, but ultimately, the photos just don't quite capture the same feeling as actually being there and appreciating the cat's presence, so I'm happy I took the time to step out of the frame. It's nice just to enjoy the moment every now and again.
