Description
Another Halloween piece for this year. I hope for one more before the holiday. This time of year really inspires me artistically. This piece was brush inked with India ink and colored in Photoshop. The textures are old watercolor scans on a heavy Windsor Newton cold press paper. A BIG high five and thanks to for his tips on texture adding.Another artistic inspiration was my good buddy .

That totally looks like Flotsam or Jetsam. Everything else is...perfect. I REALLY love the ones where you use India ink - I haven't the slightest clue about it, but I seem to like them when you indicate you've used it. Adds a very...earthy feel I think. Subtle pop.
Colors are amazing too. Vibrant and yet subtle. Its a masterpiece.

I love the eel in the tank. Everything else is great...as always...but it's the details like the look on the eel's face that always makes me smile.

quick question...
How DO you color in photoshop?
I recently obtained the most recent version, and am clueless.

Hi there! I use lots of layers and a texture overlay. I use really basic techniques, lots of flat colors without gradiants. Did you look into any online tutorials or books? I mostly learned on the job and in school, but there is still so much to learn about that program!
I always have my linework on the top layer and all the colors below...
Best of luck!!!!

Ha. It's always interesting to see what you come up with for special occasions.
What do you use to ink your lines with? Because you do it traditionally, right?

Yes! These were done with a brush and India ink. the colors were Photoshop, but using actual watercolor textures as overlays

Robb, this is fantastic! Your skills are beyond comprehension. I love Frank's pose, especially the positioning of the feet, makes it look like that electric eel powered machine is really bringing him to life. And that eel is another thing I love haha. And the placement of the pumpkin is priceless. Hope to see more Halloween pics from ya soon!
Oh btw, have you ever seen the film Mad Monster Party? If not I bet you'd dig it.
