Had a DnD villain I made for a campaign called "Cowboy Carl" that this wonderful dude reminds me of. He was a greater Choker in the monster manual that had been granted sentience by a magic Cowboy hat. All he wanted to do was escape the big bad villain he worked for and wander the world seeking his own destiny. Thanks for the cool flashback, man.
