To expand on her back story a little- Tanis was resurrected by accident at a museum where one archaeologist by the name Dr Josephine Norton, while reading a ancient scroll she discovered buried with the chid's sarcophaguses. Tanis, haven woken up, curiously walks over to Dr Norton's desk while she was finishing the text and gently tugged at her sleeve, scaring the living daylights out of the poor woman. Tanis herself was pretty startled to and runs out of the room and into the museum hallways. She is continually frightened by the museums other exhibits from medieval armour, Japanese oni masks, eagle totems, stuffed animals, manikins of Mongol warriors and the giant t-rex skeleton at the entrance.

She runs out into the city streets and is overwhelmed by the site of the skyscrapers, muttering a language that has not been heard in over 2 millennia. Franticly she ask's the passers-by for help. "Where's my mother and father? What happen to everything? What are these temples? How can those chariots move without horses?" They of course can not understand and just try to move along pass the weird looking child,speaking gibberish and dressed up too early for Halloween. Dr norton meanwhile, haven got her wits back, comes out side and grabs Tanis before any concerned pedestrians call's the police.

From there on Norton realizes that she has awoken an ancient Egyptian mummy, a princess non the less, and one whom has no recollection of the modern world. She debates what to do. Call the authorities? This is after all the discovery of the century. Think of the notoriety. The scientific applications. The answers to long ancient questions. The grand funding for the Egyptology department. The book deals. The interviews. The documentaries. The talk show circuit. The frighten child crying under the desk.... "Damn conscience", she thinks.

Luckily the buildings security system was offline this week which also creates the convenience of the museum being closed and only having minimal staff, which includes her. No one else right now in the world knows of this. She tries to communicate with Tanis with her very limited knowledge of ancient Egyptian. Hieroglyphics. Pointing and describing things. Not a lot of success. Then as the doctor covers her face in frustration, the little girl's ibis shaped tiara glows and as if telling her something, Tanis put her hand on the tired Dr Norton's knee and says in clear english, " You...are Josephine?, I'm Tanis."

For the next year, Dr Norton looks after Tanis while keeping safe her in the museum. Its the perfect setup. Tanis stays in her sarcophagus all day (hidden in the Egyptology department storage room) and comes out at night to explore the outside world. Which is limited to the metropolitan museum of history and includes all its exhibits, a children's learning centre and cafeteria. Dr Norton is there at night cause even before then she basically lived at her desk. She and the princess are have many conversations about her life in ancient times as well as modern world. Tanis, to her surprise, learned english really fast as well as writing. They become close. A sort of secret quasi-foster daughter-mother relationship. Then it eventually happens as being a child stuck in a building would do.

One day Tanis takes some clothes from the lost and found, a hoddie and a baseball cap, and tries to interact with some school children on a museum tour. It goes over well as one could imagine. They make fun of her, ask her why her face is covered in badges, one of them even tries to take them off. The bandages themselves come to life and grab the pre-teen aggressor and turn him upside down, flinging him into the water fountain nearby. This causes a commotion, with the museum employee's and teacher chaperones who where not paying attention to the kids in the back. Dr Norton is able to grab Tanis before any witness could identify her.

Dr. Norton is furious, she asks Tanis, " Why would do that? I told you, you can not and must not interact with anybody else! Especially other children. Do you understand how close you came to being discovered? Do you understand how difficult it would be to explain that a reanimated mummy was responsible for throwing a museum guest against a brick wall?!" Tanis is replies, with remorsefulness in her voice, "I'm sorry Josephine. I just wanted to talk to other children. Normal children. Something I never got to do in my last life. I didn't know it would be bad". Dr Norton calms down. "Poor kid", she thinks. She realizes the mummy princess can't stay here forever. She knows of the modern world but has no experience with it or its people. She needs more then a guardian. Other then herself, she needs friends. But where do you send a resurrected child mummy to socialize with others and not cause a sensation? The next morning Josephine is woken up from her desk by her phone's email ringtone. "Grimwood Boarding School For Girls? For more information please contact headmistress Elenore Grimwood?" Either this is a coincidence or is her phone really is smart. Or something else.....
