First, after looking at your Art I'm deeply honored to have such a talented artist comment as you did.Ā
**humble bow of respect**
I totally agree with you!Ā Having been a photographer for many years I miss the years of Film!... Film could handle the fine gradients of color and light.Ā the original of this images was taken with an older Digital camera.Ā Even though it was a professional camera/lens, it was still only a 6Mp image and the gradients are simply not there.Ā simply put:Ā It is a crime!!!!Ā but as most photographers, the lure of taking hundreds of photos for little cost compared to counting the dollars fly out the camera with film was alluring and sadly seductive.Ā
thankfully the digital age is slowly starting to catch up to film....Ā I recently had a chance to work with my brother's Nikon D800 with 30+ MPs and the gradients (compared to my old 6MP camera) are breathtaking....Ā I would go as far as saying they are as good as the old 35mm film but still a long ways from medium format film cameras.Ā
sadly computers blur the line but a well trained eye can catch the imperfections and I was pleased to hear your comment because I completely agree with you.
sincerely,
Robert

Oh, wow, thanks. I rarely ever get compliments like that, like ever.
Yeah. It's just a shame how costly it is if you don't go digital. For most people it's their only option (like mine). My ex comes from a privileged family, and he blew $5,000 on his initial set, lol. Just on camera(s?) and lenses alone. I heard it's gone up to ~$12,000 over the years. Lucky bastard. Though, I love exposure light photography, so it isn't too big of an issue, but I hate how I can't control the exposure length on my camera. You'd think by now commercial cameras would have that feature, sigh.
It's nice to know that higher end digital cameras are getting close to film quality. My 10 MP camera that I bought last year is marginally better from my 10 yo 3.2 MP camera, lol. But fortunately the new one doesn't do the strange speckling the old one does. Had to spend hours on photoshop cleaning up the red/white/blue speckling. I'd like to get a semifancy camera one day.
It probably wouldn't take too long to fix up the oddities the camera created in this image on photoshop. The higher the resolution, the easier.
Aside from that, I like taking perspective landscape shots. I think I'll start posting some photography since I currently have nothing to use my tablet with. Lately it's just stuff for Yelp, lol. If you're interested, you could get a glimpse of the places around me and the food I eat @ devingraves.yelp.com. The only thing that irks me about Yelp is how tiny the pictures are. Also, some of the photos are done with the Galaxy S4, and it has a really funky vision of reality... Must be a Korean thing? I did my best fixing the camera's peculiarities on photoshop. But I think I'll stop being lazy and start using my camera again.
On an unrelated note, I'm happy you still doublespace after a period. I got out of that habit due to it no longer being necessary, and on Microsoft Word it creates triple spacing. So I just do single all around now. My primary thing is actually writing, that's why I care about spacing, lol.
Keep it up!

You made me throw out a belly rolling laugh on your comment about the spacing.
I'm an older gentleman who learned to type in a High School typing class on a manual typewriter.... Not electric... it was the old "Clackity-Clack-Clack-Clack" typewriter.Ā Our High School had some IBM electric typewriters with the ball heads but our instructor made sure we could type on the old manual typewriters before he would let us use the electric ones.Ā Thanks to his persistence I eventually could type close to 120 words/minute and even today my fingers push out what my mind thinks.....Ā I do not have to stop and think about what my fingers do.
Unfortunately, when Microsoft tries to be "Smart"Ā and add spaces after a period or a an extra line after a paragraph or automatically indent numbered lists it trips me up.Ā My fingers have already done it before Microsoft's "Stupid-Intelligence" can post-modify what I've typed... by the time Microsoft tries to make life simpler it only messes up what my fingers have already done.Ā Ā REALLY pisses me off.
First thing I do whenever I'm on a new computer or install a new version of Office is go into options and turn off all the automatic crap they are throwing in there.
you take care!
robert

I love the sliver of penis. It's not conspicuously hidden but it's there without dominating the image the way penises normally do.

Robert-James In reply to trinilucianboy [2009-07-25 04:30:57 +0000 UTC]
I work hard to NOT make the penis the center of attention.... yet, I do not want to hide it... so many images are the perpetual "tease" with a well placed hand or object... The Male form has a penis... (grin). Hopefully I've found the balance! (grin)

I've never seen such a beautiful use of the male nude. Rather innocent (as opposed to the usual strong, defiant male) and aloof. I really love the light and shade, and the model is utterly amazing. A perfect shot.

I like the way the pose does NOT hide the model's penis, but rather aligns with it. It's not overexposed (so it's not distracting from the model's great form brought up by light) but it's not hidden either because, let's face it, we all know it's there and it should be shown without being distracting.
Excellent shot. I've faved some of your work and I'll be watching your future deviations. Mind if I use some of your photos as reference for my drawings work?
