Description
I'm not the first to think up the idea of mashing Star Wars and Aliens together - but the two go together so well I had to draw another crossover. (My other piece features Darth Maul.)For this one - I thought up the idea of Darth Vader going to check out some unusual liferform readings in his Star Destroyer's cargo hold... and finding an Alien queen.
The title for this has a double meaning. First because I think the two characters would be fairly evenly matched in a fight. Second - because of the parallels between the character design - both are shiny black evil monsters. So I've emphasised this in the composition and lighting. I also picked up on a few helpful comments about the 'gritty' feel of my last piece - so I kept a limited colour palette for this one too.
I've drawn Darth Vader attempting to use his 'force choke' on the Alien queen (would that work?). I did this intentionally because it's an ambiguous pose. I wanted him to look like he might even be reaching out to the Alien - perhaps sensing a kindred spirit. I thought that added something to this as a piece of 'art' that would be lost if this was just another battle scene.
This is an original depiction of George Lucas's and HR Giger's characters. My initial sketch for this was drawn on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 using the bundled Photoshop Touch. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the digitizer pen is - and the fact that you can export PSD files to complete your work is great too. I finished the piece in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. I used Google Sketchup to build a 3D wireframe for the background which I then imported to Photoshop to colour.
I'm really, really pleased with this. Hope you like it too!

No, Vader hasn't met his match. Though the Xenomorph's blood is corrosive acid, Vader's armor protects him from it. Though, it is possible that the Xenomorph might tear one of his prosthetic arms off.

Sorry for the slow reply! I actually like the idea of a Borg / Star Wars crossover - and I'm pretty sure there's already some art on here somewhere showing some scenes. I kind of think that Vader is already 'borgified' to the extent that he is a cyborg - but it would be cool to maybe see a borgified Jedi!

No Match - Vader Wins.
His force powers allow him to predict the Queen's attacks.
His lightsaber is hot enough to cauterize the wounds it inflicts - therefore, no acid blood.
And if all else fails - Force Choke.

Β I think that was simply a case of early installment weirdness, or a case of the physics and rules being very loose and undefined.

Even a burn wound leaks a bit of blood, but most blood vessels should be closed, so its very unlikely to bleed to death from a lightsaber wound. Still, it depends on how large the wound and the respective blood vessel are...

Linkzilla In reply to elwyn5150 [2013-09-13 15:37:55 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm - now that's a clever tactic. That's from Episode 4; the FIRST Star Wars movie, where all the logic and physics of the series are established...I wouldn't dare argue with it, especially since most of my examples of Cauterization come from the Prequel Trilogy...BUT - I like a challenge.
I'm gonna argue this point because; well basically it was Episode 4 that had that scene, but I feel like it was so early in the franchise that the series hadn't yet found it's identity or what it was trying to be. Logic would dictate that a blade made entirely out of a beam of light would be so hot that it would cauterize any flesh wound - kind of like why rain water vaporizes on contact with it. The reason I'm thinking that Ponda's arm is accompanied with the blood is because Lucas probably felt that the audience would just see "hoakiness" or cheapness from a prop arm lying on the ground. So they splashed some blood on it, to make it look like it was actually cut off.
I defend this answer because in the following Sequel - Episode 5 - the Climactic battle with Darth Vader ends with Luke's hand being cut off. The cut looked too clean to have not been cauterized - there was no blood leaking onto the wrist of Luke's sleeve. Plus I believe that from the time he lost his hand to the time he was rescued by the others, had the wound not been cauterized, he would've bled out and died.
And I felt like at that point in the series it was finally established as the running theme that the Lightsaber is hot enough to cauterize the wounds of its victim. (And I hate mentioning this because somehow it's going to make me loose credibility) It is also supported by the Prequel Trilogy. Darth Maul was cut in half but managed to survive because the wound was cauterized, allowing him to replace his legs with robot ones. When Anakin lost his arm, there were scorch marks and small embers accompanying it - same for Count Dooku when he lost his hands.
In conclusion with the evidence presented here, it is apparent that the Lightsaber is a weapon not meant to bleed an opponent, but to burn them.

The force to sense it. Then cut it off... you literally can't fight vader in melee sort of having some sort of psychic powers, or being a robot. otherwise you need to find some sort of ranged combat that vader cant throw back at you.
