Description I'm not the first to think up the idea of mashing Star Wars and Aliens together - but the two go together so well I had to draw another crossover. (My other piece features Darth Maul.)

For this one - I thought up the idea of Darth Vader going to check out some unusual liferform readings in his Star Destroyer's cargo hold... and finding an Alien queen.

The title for this has a double meaning. First because I think the two characters would be fairly evenly matched in a fight. Second - because of the parallels between the character design - both are shiny black evil monsters. So I've emphasised this in the composition and lighting. I also picked up on a few helpful comments about the 'gritty' feel of my last piece - so I kept a limited colour palette for this one too.

I've drawn Darth Vader attempting to use his 'force choke' on the Alien queen (would that work?). I did this intentionally because it's an ambiguous pose. I wanted him to look like he might even be reaching out to the Alien - perhaps sensing a kindred spirit. I thought that added something to this as a piece of 'art' that would be lost if this was just another battle scene.

This is an original depiction of George Lucas's and HR Giger's characters. My initial sketch for this was drawn on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 using the bundled Photoshop Touch. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the digitizer pen is - and the fact that you can export PSD files to complete your work is great too. I finished the piece in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. I used Google Sketchup to build a 3D wireframe for the background which I then imported to Photoshop to colour.

I'm really, really pleased with this. Hope you like it too!

He could try... but the Alien Queens are strong, fast and have a lot of nasty weapons (double mouth, claws, tail, acid blood) - so it wouldn't be an easy win!

As cool as this is... the Alien Queen really isn't evil. Think of her like a wild bear in a forest and you walk into her territory. Her aliens are like the raccoons and opossums and boars that can be found there.

I like that analogy... although I think there is something more menacing about the Alien species because they have an unfortunate tendency to obliterate anything they come into contact with!

I've been thinking on this - and I reckon I get as much inspiration out of you as you do from me! After all - I guess we're both here because we want to share our art, and appreciate the art of others. And I always get a sense of enthusiasm and drive from you which is definitely inspirational!

Darth Vader Vs. The Alien Queen (Part One) Written By Mike Rivera
Vader admired the silence for the moment. Staring throughout the windows of the Executor; the galactic stars twinkled without saying a single word.
In space, no one can hear you scream.
It was a terrifying thought; lingering within his black helmet. But one he could come to respect. A catchphrase interrupted.
β€œLord Vader,” said Admiral Piett arriving with haste, β€œThe specimen has escaped.”
β€œWhat do you mean, escaped?” asked the sith lord, as he turned.
β€œThe Xenomorph specimen number 1138 has accidentally broken free from the laboratory.” Admiral Piett said, sweat dropped from his face.
β€œAre there any casualties?”
β€œIt’s possible my lord, we have lost several signal communications from a few men.”
β€œWhy hasn’t Decontamination Alarms gone off?” Vader asked, as he made his way off the bridge.
β€œSeveral Storm troopers are investigating as we speak. Shall I send a transmission to the Emperor my lord?”
β€œNo-leave that to me. I shall deal with this, myself.” Vader turned the corner, his black cape of death followed behind him.
More than ever, Adimral Piett understood the definition of fear.

Fantastic work! Very imaginative and evocative writing. I especially like the way you included some 'in' gags - like the reference to specimen "1138" and using recognizable phrases like "leave that to me...".

Darth Vader Vs. The Alien Queen (Part Two) Written By Mike Rivera
Two Storm troopers slowly patrolled the halls of the Imperial Laboratory. Even from behind their helmets, their visions were blinded by the infested corridors with heavy mist. Their blasters, ahead of them, ready to fire at anything that moved. Emergency lights of red decorated the interior.
β€œBlast! I’m still not getting a signal from the others.” said second Storm trooper.
β€œYou think it’s really true what they say-about the lower levels of the Executor?”
β€œYou mean the experiments in the laboratory? The Monsters? My Mommy told me there’s no such thing as monsters.”
β€œStay frosty trooper, I’m serious.”
β€œWait!” shouted the third trooper, β€œOver here look!”
A Storm trooper lay helplessly on his back, his gun dropped to the side, his helmet melted away.
β€œWhat’s that clinging on his face?”
β€œNot too sure,” said the Storm trooper, kneeling down for a close examination, β€œIt Looks like some kind of corellian-spider.”
β€œImpossible, there’s no such thing,” said the Storm trooper, β€œWe better call for back up. I have a bad feeling about this.”
β€œI think this trooper’s still alive.”
β€œWe need to keep moving.”
Something loomed over from the ceiling. A slushing crack penetrated through the Storm troopers chest plate. Blood gushed from the trooper flesh; a pointed long spear sent bones and armor to pop.

Darth Vader Vs. The Alien Queen (Part Three) Written By Mike Rivera
Mechanisms breathed from Darth Vader’s mask; through the sliders doors of the laboratory; his mind felt a tremor in the force. Corpses of fallen Storm troopers dedicated soldiers of the galactic empire were all dead. Yet Vader sensed life lurking within the lower levels of the Executor.
He ignited his sith blade; the lighter saber shouted a threatening beam of red.
From under the sith lord’s heels, he crushed the dead remains of the crab looking-parasitoids that stood in his way. Paintings of blood illustrated against the confided walls. He went further on. Suddenly, the flashing red lights of the laboratory, lit back to normal. The mist still voyaged in the air. He was getting closer to his prey. In the past, he often wondered why the Emperor needed such creatures to aid his master in their quest of galactic order.
Transparent slime dripped on to the side of the sith lords shoulder armor.
The Queen is here.
A warning hiss, two enormous black legs, made the Xenomorph Queen stand approximately twenty feet tall at the hip. Her four twin sets of arms, stretched outward.
Vader took a step back, his light saber to his side. He concentrated with the dark side of the force to enable himself to communicate through Beast Language. He lifted his arm, his fingers struggling to grasp the Alien’s emotions.
For a moment, the Queen froze. Her face fixed on Vader; until suddenly, the creature was resistant to the sith lord’s power.Vader needed another plan.

I love the thought you put into this.
Now, I must admit, I am not a Star Wars fan, but in all honesty, lightsabers would be the ultimate weapon against the aliens.

Thanks. I'm just glad people have been prepared to give the image a look and let their own imaginations do the work about what's happening and what might happen next. For that reason - this might be the most 'artistic' piece of art I've ever done!

Trying to strangle a xeno is like trying to crush a steel pipe...with floss.

Really do love the ambiguity of this piece; it adds a nice and refreshing depth to it.

Thanks very much. Trying to do 'ambiguous' is risky - cos you're relying on the viewer to give the image some time and thought - but it seems to have worked with this one judging by the different interpretations people have given it.

You're absolutely right. I'm always pleased if someone likes my work and I've no problem with them sharing it - but only if they credit me. Otherwise it doesn't help me and it's basically just stealing. I think some people don't realise that these images don't just 'appear' - they take a lot of hard work - so it's really upsetting if someone just takes it. I'm so glad there are people like you on here!
