This is a unique take on the character.
I am curious as to what made you select the design that you did for this character. Is it because of the silmarill inside him?

Hello.
I actually don't have fixed interpretation for this design as I a like to let watchers to interpret these things by themself and I don't really think that much when I am drawing But your note is very correct, indeed, the simlarill could have affected Carcharoth's wicked body and cause the decay and damage of the flesh or fur which resulted in showing his unnatural anatomy. What I also had in my mind were the consequences of his creation, which in my imagination are full of vile and wicked, unnatural things done on him. It is said, that he was fed personaly by Morgoth to reach really big size, so I think that at the beginning of the process he looked more naturaly covered with fur but as he was growing, his natural attributes were deformed and torn.

Concerning his anatomy, I tried to avoid stereotypical "large black wolf" design and I tried to put some more elements into the "wolf mix" like rat, cheetah and so on..

Thank you for your comment, I hope I provided satisfactory answer.
