This is great! I love how the box is not decorated, but seems like a very old assemblage from years ago that an artistic soul would have done. Glad to see you kept the purity and did not give in to a lot of the decorative tricks in collage today. Great job on the right side. I like the layering. I'd like to see it closed because it looks as if the two figures are encircled by the opening. Very nice!

Wow...you just nailed what I work really hard to accomplish, I try to make every piece feel as if it could have been discovered in the corner of some old attic. I really enjoyed your comment, thanks for taking the time!

I think that is one of the things that makes Cornell's pieces so special. They have that aged relic kind of look to them. Will be looking forward to more collage.

Yeah, my critique of this work is that it is very compelling and I love it. I would like to try to do something like it -- any tips?

Well I was wondering how you made the paper stiff and built it up so nicely ....
Any tips at all!

I cut out the images from an 1800's Dore book and spray glued them to water color paper. The recut them and left a 1 inch flap that was glued to give them rigidity.
Then just glued them about 1 inch apart in layers. Then cut a hole for the lens and wrapped the edges in stain glass copper.
Done!
