Description Here is the third page of a mini comic I am putting together for Rose City Comic Con featuring my character Usha. She finally decided to make her presence known haha. Think maybe Usha gave the guy the hint that no means no?

Wow, dude! I really like your inks for these Usha pages; that's some super clean stuff, and I love some of the effects you got going on in this page in particular. Storytelling is excellent too. I didn't have to stop once to tell what was going on.

Thanks John! I always try to tell the story without dialogue as best as I can so it is a relief to hear you say that haha

Yeah, man. If there's anything truly substantial to take away from the lessons that Joe, Adam and Andy teach us at the school, it's that you can have the prettiest page in the world, but it won't mean jack if the storytelling isn't there.
So what I take from this so far is your character Usha is a bit of an anti-hero?

She is kind of an anti hero sometimes but I like to consider more of a chaotic neutral. She loves the taste of a sinful soul and an innocent tastes like a fruit that's not ripe enough yet so to her it's almost more of a taste preference than a sense of obligation or anything. She saves that girl more as a side effect of her finding a good meal. She wouldn't bother with the girl though because as she would put it "She's not nearly ripe enough for my palette" She actually has a twinge of a conscience due to her mother being an angel and her father being Lucifer, but she doesn't know that yet.

Oh. I got you. That's kind of interesting, because you don't really see that explored too much in a story's protagonist. I kind of like that what she does is almost primordial in nature, and just so happens that bad folks are her main target because they're better game. I also really like the personal conflict between good and evil with her (inner conflicts I always felt like were one of the juicier forms of conflict in just about any plot), and not only that but sounds kind of like a conflict in her own nature as well. To me that sounds really interesting.

Yeah she's going to discover more about herself and her background throughout the story. Daddy issues are one thing, but when your daddy happens to be Lucifer, it gets a little more complicated than normal hahaha

Haha. That sound really awesome! I'd definitely love to check out the story when you put it out there, because it sounds like the type of story I'd be into. If there's ever anything you need help with support wise (a la Kickstarter), just let me know and I'm there.
What's your plan as far as publication go? Are you looking to pitch it to some publishers, or were you thinking about trying something a bit more progressive, like self-publishing it through some kind of digital format?

Well first I am going to take this preview comic and shop it around to a few publishers and see if anything happens. If nothing does, then I am definitely thinking about going the self publishing route, but I would love to get it published ideally of course I will definitely keep you in the loop! Thanks man!!!

Awesome! Sounds good, Rob. I hope things turn out really well for this. I'm always trying to support more diversity in comics when it comes to creator owned projects, so this is something I'd definitely love to see put out there. I think the market is finally starting to come around to making other genres of comics really successful besides just superheroes. Best of luck to you, man!

Thanks man! I appreciate it! I'll make sure to let you know when the pages are ready, I still have to finish the last page and Brittany has to color and letter them so it'll be a little while but I'm super excited!

This whole sequence is really terrific -- great dramatic layouts, excelling inking and spotting blacks.

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I learned everything I know about spotting blacks from reading Frank Miller, Joe Kubert, and Tom Mandrake comics and wishing I was that good lmao
