Thanks for the kind words. I thought that it could go either way myself, sun or moon. I decided on sun in my mind because Holmes is so often throwing a light where all is dark to his clients, that I thought a little light should shine upon him now and then. But that line is frought with duality--hence I'm glad the drawing seems to capture that. Even heroes who frown on recieving credit need their moment in the sun...and Holmes was not always unfavorable to such moments of flattery. It depended on his mood and the source from which it came.
Maybe a darker image of Baker Street by gaslight in the fog would make a nice contrast to this piece one day.

BTW, at first I thought it was the Moon, and that it's the moonlit London. Maybe, it was done on purpose? I mean, it feels like it's the day and the night at the same time. But no matter if it is the day or the night, Holmes will always be there to protect the London.

As the sun breaks through the clouds that hang over Parliament, its rays illuminate Sherlock Holmes, protector of the realm.
Done with brush, pen and ink, possibly my most ambitious Holmes drawing to date.
