Creating the water effect is actually easier than you would think. It's simply creating a plane, aligning the center of the plane with the center of the object making the ripples, apply the Clear Water shader, and then bump, normal and opacity maps. I've been using maps that were given to me by MyTurnCoat, although I would like to try the normal map that TestRender posted up. In fact, I'm feeling a bit rude that I haven't tried the maps yet, since he actually tagged me in the post.

A lot of great entries for this theme. I'm thrilled by your concept, the water, boat and the character suggest so much story behind it. Love the posing and the ripples in the water, too, which is always a tricky thing.

I think that ripples in water add so much... I rarely see them but if you can make them work it's very effective.

Lol... Jason and the Argonaughts was mentioned in a previous comment, but I definitely see the Sinbad reference. I also was trying to channel a little Clash of the Titans as well as The Argonath from the instant classic LOTR series.

Nice scenery! The DOF works really well with the scattered columns. The calm sea and the flocks of gulls create a nice, tranquil mood.
