Description "The heat is ON!!!!"

Here he is, the world's first nuclear powered superhero:  Firestorm!!!

Ronnie Raymond was a transfer high school student, and by far one of the most popular in his class.  At the same time, Nobel Prize winner Professor Martin Stein was creating a fully automated, fail safe nuclear power plant.  Ronnie, in an attempt to impress a girl, joined a group of protesters who planned to shut down the plant before it could open.  However things took a turn for the worse, when terrorists invaded the plant looking to steal Plutonium with which they could create a super weapon and hold the world hostage.  Most of the protesters were killed, but Ronnie was taken as a hostage.  He was though able to put up a fair fight and protect Professor Stein, until one of the terrorists tossed a grenade into the lab.  Ronnie attempted to shield Professor Stein from the blast.  The combination of the explosion from the grenade and the nuclear energy melded the two together into Firestorm!!

Now Ronnie had a tremendously increased IQ as well as the incredible power to rearrange inorganic matter at the atomic, or subatomic level, as well as pyrokinesis. At first, he tried to join the Justice League, attempting to prove himself in a mission, but Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman all agreed he was too reckless to be a part of the JLA.  Captain Marvel, though, understanding how it was being a kid and a superhero, cheered him up, and took him to California, where he was made an honorary member of the Teen Titans!

For Firestorm's look, I was heavily inspired by his comic appearance in the JLU comic series.  I think it took a while for me to draw him, because for me, I never took much interest in the character until recently.  He's the love interest of Firehawk, a similar powered superheroine, as well as the friend of Caitlyn Snow, the third and sole heroic Killer Frost.

Disclaimer:  Firestorm belongs to DC Comics, Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom.

That was quick; I didn't expect Ronnie to be up so soon. He looks good; the Firestorm outfit from the comics is a really good and unique design.

Well I had some time, and I figured why not? I already started to draw him a few hours ago. Thanks! I was going off the DCAU version because I wasn’t sure how to draw the jin-baori vest to his costume. This version I feel simplifies it down, but keeps the basics. I also felt him actually having pupils in his eyes would be less creepy.

Yeah, the whole solid color eyes thing never really looks all that good (didn't look good on Kiran in the New 52, or on Prysm back in the mid 90's).

Except of course for Starfire, when she’s angry. Then it works. I felt that with Firestorm, since he hasn’t got a glowing body, he of all people should have his pupils, and his eyebrows too.

You plan to do Killer Frost next?

That depends. Which Killer Frost do you mean? Louise Lincoln? Crystal Frost or Caitlyn Snow?

Louise Lincoln, like the one in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

Oh, definitely Louise Lincoln! She was also even on the Suicide Squad in Assault on Arkham.

Do you think you can do a look similar to the Justice League appearance? Like that sleeveless tube bodysuit from Justice League Unlimited?

Well possibly I could do that, but I was also thinking of her look in the Injustice game. Not her regime version, because she looks absolutely horrendous with a mohawk.

You should consider my idea.

I’ll think about it.
